There are programs out there that allow you to modify the "date modified" of the file, though I've never had the need to use them myself (own a DVD version of Oblivion).Ī quick search on found this:
Is there anything I can do to work around this? They're also very straightforward to install.
It apparently interferes with the installers several of the larger mods use.Īll three are fantastic, and work with every other major mod.
Oh, and apparently UAC in Windows 7 can cause issues when Oblivion is installed inside the /Program Files/ directory.
bsa files as "modified" in 2007/2006.Ī friend of mine was having problems getting the DarNifiedUI mod to work with the Steam version (that mod is essential, BTW), and I think we tracked the problem down to the modification date on those files. The only problem some people have with the Steam version is that the Steam-version data files are all set as "modified" in 2010 whereas most other DVD installations have the. Oblivion loads all its files in order of when they were last modified.
The only thing you (may) need to do with the Steam version is make sure the "date modified" of Oblivion's main data files is set to 2006 or so. Without knowing whether you want houses, more weapons and armor, companions, new dungeons and quests, or what-have-you, it's hard to make suggestions beyond the basics. In most cases using a No-CD or Fixed EXE will solve this problem Some Game Trainers are sometimes reported to be a Virus or Trojan, the most common is a keylogger called HotKeysHook or the file has been packed/protected with VMProtect or Themida and is recognized as Win32/Packed.VMProtect or Win32/Packed.Themida. If you're not sure what kind of mods you're looking for, you might want to look at the Mod Categories page, and go from there. Note that the Apachii Goddess store is considered to be an "Adult" file, since some of the clothing options in it have nudity, so you'll have to make an account and log in to TES Nexus to get it. Take their clothing and give them different clothing in order to get them to wear it). If you want to give the NPCs in the game a wider variety of appearance, I highly recommend the Apachii Goddess Store (lots of clothes for women and weapons to give the game more variety), the Apachii Heroes Store (same for men), and the Active Inventory spell (lets you open the inventories of NPCs as though they were containers. I personally like the Low-Poly Grass mod, various body improvement mods (especially Exnem's Eye Candy mods), and the Tabaxi race. So what would be some must-have mods for Oblivion? I've only played the vanilla 360 version, and just purchased the Steam version.įirst: OBMM (Oblivion Mod Manager) will make installing mods much easier, and also make it easier to find Mods that just don't want to work with your game for whatever reason.Īfter that, go through the TES Nexus's top 100 lists, and see what looks good for you.
